Zambia Academy of Sciences
The Zambia Academy of Sciences (ZaAS) was established in 2005 for the purpose of advancing science including life and physical sciences, medicine, engineering, mathematics, social science and technology, as the vehicle for the attainment of sustainable development for Zambia.
All leading economies and those countries whose economies are becoming more industrialized have put in place National Academies of Sciences as the main national Think Tanks, guiding and spearheading socio-economic development. It is very unlikely that Zambia will attain real sustainable development unless science evidence-based solutions are employed. Development that is based on consumption of products developed outside own country only ensures that the consuming country is always at the bottom of the ladder regardless of how positive that county’s fiscal and economic indicators may read.
